Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nano silver fluoride + tri-calcium phosphate is a dental remineralization agent that combines silver nanoparticles, fluoride, and functionalized tri-calcium phosphate (fTCP). This combination leverages the antibacterial properties of silver nanoparticles against cariogenic bacteria (particularly Mutans streptococci and Lactobacilli), the remineralizing effects of fluoride, and the calcium/phosphate delivery system of fTCP. The functionalized tri-calcium phosphate component is coated with fumaric acid, creating a protective barrier that prevents premature reaction between calcium and fluoride. This barrier breaks down when applied to the tooth surface, releasing calcium, phosphate, and fluoride ions to promote remineralization. This combination has demonstrated effectiveness in: - Preventing demineralization of tooth structure - Remineralizing early carious lesions - Providing antibacterial effects against cariogenic bacteria - Arresting active dentine caries It is particularly useful in pediatric dentistry, especially for uncooperative children or those in low-income communities, as it offers a non-invasive, painless, and cost-effective approach to caries management.
