Overview

NanoAb COVID-19 is an inhaled, alpaca-derived VHH-antibody (nanobody) therapy developed by BiondVax Pharmaceuticals in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences and the University Medical Center Göttingen. Designed for both the prophylactic and therapeutic treatment of COVID-19, these nanosized antibodies target the SARS-CoV-2 virus with significantly higher affinity than conventional monoclonal antibodies, neutralizing variants ranging from the original Wuhan strain to Omicron sub-variants (BA.4/5 and BQ.1) at concentrations up to 100 times lower. The therapy is uniquely hyper-thermostable, maintaining structural integrity at temperatures up to 95°C, and is administered via inhalation to deliver the biologic directly to the respiratory tract, the primary site of infection.
