NanoAgCide

NanoAgCide is a patented antimicrobial technology developed by WeInnovate Biosolutions, an Indian startup. It consists of a colloidal silver nanoparticle solution designed as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial additive for medical devices and environmental sanitization. The technology utilizes silver nanoparticles that exert antimicrobial activity by interacting with viral surface glycoproteins to block entry and by interfering with viral replication processes, such as the synthesis of negative-strand RNA and viral budding. NanoAgCide is primarily used for infection prevention and control, particularly to reduce hospital-acquired infections (HAIs). It is incorporated into medical devices like the SilvoGuard Foley Catheter and is used in non-alcoholic, aqueous-based hand sanitizers and surface disinfectants. The technology has received British Pharmacopeia approval and is supported by the Indian Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Department of Biotechnology (DBT).
