Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nanocelle Insulin is an investigational reformulated insulin therapy developed by Medlab Clinical. It utilizes Medlab's proprietary NanoCelle® delivery platform, which encapsulates insulin into nano-sized micelles (nanoscopic fat-soluble core surrounded by a water-soluble outer layer) to enable non-invasive delivery across the oro-buccal or nasal mucosa. This delivery system is designed to bypass gastrointestinal degradation and avoid subcutaneous injections, mimicking the pharmacokinetic profile of naturally produced insulin with a faster onset of action. Clinical development has included a withdrawn Phase 0 safety and pharmacokinetics study of an oro-buccal spray formulation in healthy volunteers, as well as preclinical exploration of an intranasal variant (MC-1006) for blood glucose control and cognitive deficits.
