Nanocovax is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine developed for the prevention of COVID-19. It consists of the extracellular (soluble) portion of the SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein, produced in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells and formulated with an aluminum hydroxide adjuvant. The vaccine is administered intramuscularly in two doses, 28 days apart. Nanocovax induces high levels of S protein-specific IgG and neutralizing antibodies, demonstrating robust immunogenicity and safety in preclinical animal models as well as human clinical trials. The immune response is characterized by a Th2 polarization, consistent with the use of an aluminum adjuvant[1][3][4][5].
