Nanocurcumin gel is an investigational nanoparticle formulation of curcumin being developed by Ain Shams University for endodontic applications. It is specifically designed as an intracanal medicament to treat periapical lesions in patients undergoing root canal retreatment. By reducing curcumin particles to the nanoscale (typically 10-100 nm), the formulation aims to overcome the poor solubility and low bioavailability of regular curcumin, enhancing its therapeutic efficacy. The drug exerts antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects to eliminate persistent endodontic infections and promote the healing of periapical tissues.
