Nanoencapsulated fluoride is a specialized dental delivery system designed to improve the bioavailability and substantivity of fluoride in the oral cavity. By encapsulating fluoride—typically in the form of sodium fluoride—within nanoparticles, the formulation achieves a sustained and controlled release of fluoride ions into the saliva and dental biofilm. This prolonged retention is intended to enhance the dental remineralization process (re-mineralization) and inhibit the demineralization of tooth enamel (des-mineralization), making it more effective than conventional free fluoride in the prevention and control of dental caries. The technology aims to overcome the limitation of rapid fluoride clearance from the mouth after brushing or rinsing.
