Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NANOFER-THE-0504 is a targeted nanoparticle-based therapeutic developed by Thena Biotech for the treatment of solid tumors. It utilizes a human H-ferritin (HFn) nanocage as a delivery vehicle, which naturally targets the Transferrin Receptor 1 (TfR1/CD71) overexpressed on the surface of many cancer cells. The nanocage is loaded with doxorubicin, a cytotoxic anthracycline. This targeted delivery approach aims to increase the concentration of the drug within the tumor microenvironment while reducing systemic toxicity, particularly cardiotoxicity associated with free doxorubicin. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for patients with advanced solid tumors.
