Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nanoformulated linseed oil is a stabilized nanotechnology-based formulation of linseed oil (containing 25% w/w linseed oil and 13.75% w/w alpha-linolenic acid, a plant-derived omega-3 fatty acid). Developed by MyBiotech and Preventor µTBC in collaboration with the University of Strasbourg and Saarland University, this formulation is designed to target chronic inflammation and oxidative stress in cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. It exerts potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-remodeling effects by acting as an agonist of Formyl peptide receptor 2 (FPR2), promoting the polarization of pro-inflammatory M1 monocytes/macrophages into an anti-inflammatory M2 phenotype. It has been investigated ex vivo in monocytes from patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis, showing significant reduction in reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, pro-inflammatory cytokine release, and pro-thrombotic tissue factor expression.
