Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nanoigel is developing a series of small molecule benzimidazole derivatives that act as agonists of the imidazoline I2 receptor. These compounds are being investigated for their potential as geroprotectors to treat aging and age-related pathologies, as well as for indications such as arterial hypertension and hypoglycemia. The imidazoline I2 receptors are primarily located in the central nervous system and peripheral tissues, and their modulation is associated with neuroprotection and metabolic regulation. The program is currently in the preclinical stage, with research supported by patent WO2021145785A1, which describes the synthesis and biological activity of these derivatives in enhancing lifespan and treating metabolic disorders.
