Overview

**Nanokine** is a biosimilar of epoetin alfa, a recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO) produced using recombinant DNA technology in Chinese hamster ovary cell lines. It functions identically to endogenous erythropoietin by binding to erythropoietin receptors on erythroid progenitor cells in the bone marrow, stimulating red blood cell production (erythropoiesis) to treat symptomatic anemia. Developed and manufactured by Nanogen Pharmaceutical Biotechnology JSC, a Vietnam-based biotech company, it is available in formulations of 2000 IU, 4000 IU, and 10000 IU in vials and prefilled syringes for subcutaneous (SC) or intravenous (IV) administration. Primary indications include anemia associated with chronic renal failure (in patients on dialysis, peritoneal dialysis, or pre-dialysis), chemotherapy for solid tumors, malignant lymphoma, or multiple myeloma, as well as autologous blood predonation and preoperative use in high-risk orthopedic surgery patients.[1][2][4][20]
