Overview
Medesis Pharma SA is developing NanoManganese, a manganese formulation that utilizes their proprietary Aonys® microemulsion technology. This technology enables the oral administration of active ingredients in nanodroplet form, facilitating intracellular delivery and potentially allowing passage across the blood-brain barrier. NanoManganese is being investigated for its ability to restore intracellular Manganese Superoxide Dismutase (MnSOD) activity, which is crucial for eliminating intracellular free radicals and regulating oxidative stress. It is under development for the treatment of moderate to severe COVID-19 by addressing severe pulmonary inflammatory lesions and respiratory insufficiencies, similar to those observed in nuclear irradiation. Additionally, it is being developed as a radioprotection drug and for radiosensitization in cancer treatment.
