Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Nanosilica-cysteine composite loaded with arsenic trioxide** is an experimental nanomedicine in which arsenic trioxide is adsorbed onto cysteine-functionalized nanosilica through arsenic-sulfur interactions. The cysteine-modified silica carrier is intended to improve arsenic trioxide delivery and has been evaluated in vitro against lung and breast cancer cell lines. SC-As showed cytotoxic activity in A549 lung cancer and MCF-7 breast cancer cells and demonstrated synergistic activity with cisplatin in lung cancer models; it remains an academic, preclinical research formulation with no approved clinical use or identified commercial developer.
