Nanosilver fluoride (NSF) is an experimental dental formulation that combines silver nanoparticles (AgNP) with fluoride, typically in the form of sodium fluoride. It is primarily developed as an alternative to silver diamine fluoride (SDF) for the arrest of dental caries and the treatment of dentin hypersensitivity, particularly in pediatric patients. The silver nanoparticles provide potent antimicrobial activity by disrupting bacterial cell membranes and inhibiting metabolic enzymes in cariogenic bacteria like *Streptococcus mutans*. Unlike traditional SDF, NSF is designed to avoid the permanent black staining of dental tissues. The fluoride component promotes the remineralization of enamel and dentin and aids in the occlusion of dentinal tubules, which reduces sensitivity in conditions such as Molar-Incisor Hypomineralisation (MIH).
