Overview

NanoTherm is a ferrofluid-based therapeutic agent composed of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles with an aminosilane coating, developed for the local treatment of solid tumors. The nanoparticles are injected directly into tumor tissue, where they form a stable depot. When exposed to an alternating magnetic field (via the NanoActivator device), these particles generate localized heat (magnetic hyperthermia), leading to targeted ablation and destruction of cancer cells. This approach allows for precise, minimally invasive tumor therapy with reduced systemic side effects compared to conventional treatments. In some formulations, the nanoparticles can be conjugated with chemotherapeutic agents for temperature-dependent drug release within the tumor, further enhancing efficacy through synergistic effects between hyperthermia and chemotherapy. The primary indications under investigation include recurrent glioblastoma and intermediate-risk prostate cancer[2][3][5][6][8].
