Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nanotropil Novo is a nootropic small molecule drug containing fonturacetam (also known as phenylpiracetam), developed and marketed by Valenta Pharmaceuticals. It is indicated for the treatment of various central nervous system (CNS) disorders, including cognitive impairment, memory loss, attention deficits, and metabolic or vascular cerebral disorders. The drug acts as a neuromodulator, stimulating cholinergic and glutamatergic neurotransmitter systems, which leads to increased levels of acetylcholine, glutamate, dopamine, and norepinephrine in the brain. It exhibits antiamnestic, anticonvulsant, anxiolytic, and psychostimulating properties. Nanotropil Novo was launched in Russia in May 2020 as a successor to the brand Phenotropil and is included in the Russian list of Vital and Essential Medicines.
