NanoVax HSV vaccine

**NanoVax HSV vaccine** is a preclinical intranasal protein-subunit vaccine candidate developed by NanoBio and subsequently BlueWillow Biologics for prophylactic and therapeutic management of genital herpes. The studied formulation contains herpes simplex virus type 2 surface glycoproteins gB2 and gD2 formulated with BlueWillow's NanoVax oil-in-water nanoemulsion adjuvant, also termed NE01 or W805EC. Intranasal delivery is intended to induce mucosal, systemic, and cellular antiviral immune responses. In guinea-pig genital-herpes models, the candidate reduced acute and recurrent disease and viral shedding; BlueWillow reported prevention of infection in 92 percent of vaccinated animals in a prophylactic study and greater than 50 percent reductions in recurrent lesions and shedding in previously infected animals.
