Naoshuantong is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily used in China for the treatment of ischemic stroke and other cerebrovascular diseases. It is a multi-component mixture typically containing extracts from *Hirudo* (leech), *Radix Astragali*, *Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae*, *Radix et Rhizoma Notoginseng*, and *Rhizoma Chuanxiong*. The therapeutic mechanism is attributed to its ability to inhibit thrombin activity (via hirudin from the leech component), suppress platelet aggregation, improve microcirculation, and provide neuroprotection against ischemic injury. It is widely marketed in China and is currently being evaluated in clinical trials to further establish its efficacy in reducing stroke recurrence in high-risk populations.
