Overview
Naphazoline + hypromellose is a fixed-dose combination ophthalmic preparation used primarily for the temporary relief of eye redness, irritation, and dryness. Naphazoline is a sympathomimetic vasoconstrictor (imidazoline derivative) that acts as an alpha-adrenergic receptor agonist to constrict conjunctival blood vessels and reduce ocular congestion. Hypromellose (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose) is an inert polymer that serves as a lubricant and protectant by forming a viscoelastic film over the ocular surface to relieve dryness and irritation. The combination provides both decongestant and lubricating effects for symptomatic relief in conditions such as allergic or irritative conjunctivitis[1][2][3][4][5].
