Overview

Naproxen + tramadol is a combination of two analgesic drugs used together for the management of moderate to severe pain, particularly when monotherapy is insufficient. Naproxen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis and inflammation. Tramadol is an atypical opioid analgesic that acts as an agonist at the μ-opioid receptor and also inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine, contributing to its pain-relieving effects. The combination can provide additive or synergistic pain relief, allowing for lower doses of each drug while maintaining efficacy[4][2][5]. This approach may reduce the risk of side effects associated with higher doses of either agent alone.
