Overview

**Naproxen phosphatidylcholine** is an investigational oral phosphatidylcholine-associated formulation of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug naproxen, developed as PL3100 by PLx Pharma. Naproxen reversibly inhibits cyclooxygenase-1 and cyclooxygenase-2, reducing prostaglandin synthesis and thereby producing analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. The phosphatidylcholine lipid matrix was designed to reduce local disruption of the gastrointestinal mucosal lipid barrier while preserving systemic naproxen exposure and pharmacologic activity. PL3100 was evaluated in completed clinical studies including a Phase 2 study of upper gastrointestinal mucosal damage versus conventional naproxen in at-risk adults.
