Narrowband ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) is a form of phototherapy that uses a specific range of ultraviolet B light (typically 311–312 nm) to treat various skin conditions. It works by suppressing DNA synthesis in rapidly dividing cells and modulating immune responses in the skin, which helps reduce inflammation and improve symptoms. The treatment is delivered using specialized fluorescent lamps or targeted devices such as excimer lasers for localized areas. NB-UVB is most commonly used for psoriasis but is also effective for eczema (atopic dermatitis), vitiligo, lichen planus, pruritus associated with various conditions, and other inflammatory dermatoses[2][3][5]. Treatment sessions are usually conducted 2–3 times per week under medical supervision in a clinical setting[2][7].
