Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nasol is a buffered isotonic saline nasal spray distributed by Actor Pharma in South Africa. It is indicated for nasal hygiene and the symptomatic relief of nasal congestion, dryness, and irritation associated with the common cold, sinusitis, and allergic rhinitis. The formulation contains a 0.72% sodium chloride solution, which acts mechanically to hydrate the nasal mucosa and liquefy thick or crusty mucus, facilitating its removal from the nasal passages. Unlike pharmacological decongestants, Nasol is non-medicated and free from sympathomimetic amines, which eliminates the risk of rebound congestion (rhinitis medicamentosa). It is suitable for long-term use and is safe for all age groups, including infants and pregnant or breastfeeding women.
