NasoVAX is a recombinant, monovalent intranasal influenza vaccine based on a replication-deficient adenovirus type 5 (RD-Ad5) vector. It is designed to express the influenza hemagglutinin antigen in nasal epithelial cells following administration as a nasal spray. This intracellular expression stimulates both mucosal and systemic immune responses, potentially providing broader and more rapid protection than traditional egg-based flu vaccines. NasoVAX has demonstrated immunogenicity and safety in clinical trials, with evidence of cross-protection against divergent influenza strains.
