Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**NasuMel** is a CE-certified honey-based topical medical device formulated as a nasal ointment. Its principal functional ingredient is purified, enzyme-rich medical-grade honey, combined with peanut oil, white beeswax, glyceryl oleate, water, and rose oil. It is intended to protect and support healing of superficial nasal wounds, fissures, crusts, and dry, damaged, or irritated nasal mucosa. Honey provides broad antibacterial protection through its low pH, high osmolarity, and glucose-oxidase-mediated generation of low concentrations of hydrogen peroxide in moist wound conditions, while supporting a moist wound-healing environment. NasuMel contains neither antibiotics nor corticosteroids. It has also been evaluated in a Phase 2 study for chronically infected radical mastoidectomy cavities.
