Overview

natCu-DOTHA2-PSMA is a non-radioactive (cold) metallocomplex consisting of natural copper (natCu) chelated by DOTHA2 and conjugated to a ligand targeting Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA). It serves as the stable, non-radioactive analog of the radiopharmaceutical 64Cu-DOTHA2-PSMA. In preclinical research, natCu-DOTHA2-PSMA is utilized as a control to evaluate the specific effects of the PSMA-targeting scaffold and the copper-chelator complex without the influence of ionizing radiation. The molecule binds with high affinity to PSMA, an enzyme overexpressed on the surface of prostate cancer cells, which facilitates its use in studying the biodistribution and targeting efficiency of DOTHA2-based radioligands.
