Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Natlean (NATLEAN) is an oral, non-prescription dietary supplement (nutraceutical) developed by Metabolize, a consumer health startup founded in 2024. It is a synergistic formulation combining N-acetyltaurine, an appetite-signaling metabolite, and taurine in a single daily supplement. Natlean is designed to support appetite regulation (reducing 'food noise'), weight maintenance, and lean muscle, particularly for individuals transitioning off GLP-1 receptor agonist therapies. The underlying science, licensed exclusively from Stanford University, demonstrates that N-acetyltaurine suppresses food intake and body weight through a pathway that requires functional GDNF family receptor alpha-like (GFRAL) receptors in the brainstem, stimulating a GDF15-like endocrine response without affecting the brain's pleasure centers.
