Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nattokinn is an oral dietary supplement formulated to support cardiovascular and circulatory health. It contains a combination of nattokinase (NSK-SD®), a potent fibrinolytic serine protease isolated from fermented soybeans (nattō), and folic acid in the active form of calcium-L-methylfolate. Nattokinase directly hydrolyzes fibrin clots, degrades fibrinogen, and inactivates plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1), while also promoting endogenous tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) and urokinase to enhance the body's natural clot-dissolving mechanisms. Additionally, nattokinase exhibits mild angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory activity to help regulate blood pressure. The inclusion of calcium-L-methylfolate supports normal blood formation and the metabolism of homocysteine, a known cardiovascular risk factor. Nattokinn is marketed for the prevention and adjuvant therapy of cardiovascular diseases, including thrombosis, atherosclerosis, and hypertension.
