Overview

This autologous dendritic cell (DC) vaccine, developed by Radboud University Medical Center, is a biologic immunotherapy designed for the treatment of metastatic endometrial cancer. The vaccine utilizes freshly isolated natural dendritic cells (nDCs) from the patient's peripheral blood, specifically combining myeloid (conventional) and plasmacytoid DC subsets. Unlike traditional monocyte-derived DC vaccines that require extensive ex vivo culture, these nDCs are isolated and loaded with tumor-associated antigens—specifically Mucin-1 (MUC1) and Survivin—as well as tumor lysate, requiring only a brief 16-hour culture period before administration. The vaccine is delivered via intranodal injection to stimulate a robust, antigen-specific T-cell immune response. It has been evaluated in the Phase I/II DECENDO trial (NCT04212377) in combination with standard carboplatin and paclitaxel chemotherapy.
