*Nauclea latifolia* extract (derived from the African peach or *Sarcocephalus latifolius*) is a botanical extract traditionally used in West African ethnomedicine for the treatment of malaria, fever, pain, diabetes, and hypertension. A standardized aqueous root extract of the plant, developed under the code name NIPRD-AM1 by the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD) in Nigeria with support from the World Health Organization, has been clinically evaluated for the treatment of uncomplicated malaria. The extract contains bioactive indole alkaloids, such as strictosamide, which exhibit antiplasmodial activity against *Plasmodium falciparum*. Additionally, preclinical studies have investigated its potential anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antidiabetic properties, as well as its in vitro cytotoxic activity against various cancer cell lines.
