Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nav1.8 Program 2 is a preclinical-stage small molecule inhibitor of the voltage-gated sodium channel Nav1.8 (SCN10A), currently under development by Latigo Biotherapeutics for non-opioid pain management. The drug is designed to selectively target and block Nav1.8 channels, which are predominantly expressed in peripheral sensory neurons (nociceptors) and are essential for the initiation and propagation of pain signals. By inhibiting these channels, Nav1.8 Program 2 aims to stop pain transmission at the peripheral level before it reaches the central nervous system, potentially offering a safer, non-addictive alternative to opioid analgesics for the treatment of various pain conditions. This program is part of a broader pipeline of Nav1.8 inhibitors that includes the clinical-stage candidates LTG-001 and LTG-305.
