Overview

Quiver Bioscience is developing a small molecule inhibitor of the Nav1.8 voltage-gated sodium channel for the treatment of chronic pain disorders. Nav1.8, encoded by the SCN10A gene, is predominantly expressed in peripheral nociceptive neurons and is a validated target for pain management due to its role in action potential firing in sensory fibers. By selectively blocking Nav1.8, this therapeutic candidate aims to provide potent analgesia while avoiding the side effects associated with non-selective sodium channel inhibitors. The program is currently in preclinical development, with potential applications in conditions such as small fiber neuropathy, lumbosacral radiculopathy, and cancer-related pain.
