Navamepent (RX-10045) is a synthetic isopropyl ester prodrug analogue of resolvin E1 (RvE1), an oxygenated product of eicosapentaenoic acid. It acts as a potent anti-inflammatory agent and cell-survival promoter, primarily developed for ophthalmic indications such as dry eye syndrome, allergic conjunctivitis, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular oedema, postoperative inflammation and pain, and retinal disorders. Its mechanism involves inhibition of inflammation mediators and modulation of lipid pathways. RX-10045 has demonstrated efficacy in reducing corneal inflammation, preventing epithelial damage, inhibiting the release of pro-inflammatory mediators from corneal epithelial cells, improving tear volume, and accelerating tissue repair. The drug was formulated for topical ocular administration but development has been discontinued across all major indications[1][4][5].
