Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NAX 810-2 (also known as galanin analogue 810-2) is a systemically bioavailable, peptidomimetic galanin receptor type 2 (GalR2)-preferring agonist developed by the University of Utah and its spinout NeuroAdjuvants. It exhibits a 15-fold greater affinity for GalR2 over GalR1. NAX 810-2 is being investigated preclinically for the treatment of epilepsy, prevention of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP), and management of various pain conditions, including neuropathic and inflammatory pain. By selectively activating GalR2, NAX 810-2 modulates neuronal excitability and provides anticonvulsant and analgesic effects without inducing the GalR1-mediated hyperglycemic side effects typically associated with non-selective galanin agonists.
