Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NB-02 (formerly DA-9803) is a novel multimodal botanical drug candidate being developed for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and other tauopathies. Originally developed by Dong-A ST and subsequently acquired by NeuroBo Pharmaceuticals, NB-02 functions as an acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor. Preclinical evidence suggests it also targets pathological tau protein dysfunction and amyloid-beta deposition. In animal models, NB-02 has demonstrated the ability to halt amyloid plaque deposition, clear cortical amyloid, restore neuronal calcium levels, and modulate neuroinflammation by shifting astrocytes and microglia toward a phagocytic state. As a botanical therapeutic, it represents a complex natural product-based approach to addressing the multimodal pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases.
