Overview

NB1222 is a synthetically manufactured, non–plant-derived prodrug of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), chemically referred to as THC-valine-hemisuccinate, being developed by Nemus Bioscience (now Skye Bioscience) as a cannabinoid-based therapeutic for the treatment and management of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV).[1][3][5][11][14] The molecule is designed to convert in vivo to THC, leveraging THC’s established antiemetic, appetite-stimulating, anxiolytic, and analgesic properties while aiming to provide more reliable and predictable bioavailability and pharmacokinetics than conventional THC formulations.[1][3][5] NB1222 has been formulated for human-dosage development, including suppository and softgel lipid-based delivery systems, to optimize systemic exposure and dose uniformity in oncology patients receiving emetogenic chemotherapy.[1][3][5][9]
