NBDHEX

**NBDHEX** is a small-molecule inhibitor of glutathione S-transferase P1-1 (GSTP1-1) and glutathione S-transferase M2-2 (GSTM2-2), identified for its potent cytotoxic effects against cancer cells and protozoan parasites. NBDHEX induces apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in multiple human cancer cell lines, including those resistant to chemotherapeutics, by inhibiting GSTpi activity and disrupting its interactions with pro-survival signaling pathways (such as c-Jun N-terminal kinase and TRAF2). It also acts as a transmission-blocking agent for *Plasmodium falciparum* malaria by preferentially killing gametocytes. In addition, NBDHEX inhibits FAD-dependent glycerol 3-phosphate dehydrogenase and thioredoxin reductase in protozoa. The compound is orally active, exhibits an excellent safety profile in mouse models, and is under study for cancer (including NSCLC and breast cancer) and parasitic infections (Giardia, *Plasmodium falciparum*)[1][2][3][4].
