NBIP-2118

NBIP-2118 is an investigational, first-in-class corticotropin-releasing factor type 2 receptor (CRF2) peptide agonist being developed by Neurocrine Biosciences for the treatment of obesity. Designed for once-weekly subcutaneous administration, the drug demonstrates high selectivity and potency in preclinical models. Its primary therapeutic differentiation lies in its muscle-sparing properties; while most existing weight-loss therapies lead to significant loss of lean mass, NBIP-2118 promotes weight loss primarily through fat reduction while preserving or increasing skeletal muscle mass. Neurocrine Biosciences initiated a Phase 1 first-in-human clinical study in May 2026, with plans to evaluate the asset both as a monotherapy and in combination with other metabolic candidates like the triple agonist NBIP-1968.
