Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NBM-100G is a selective small molecule inhibitor of histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) developed by NatureWise Biotech & Medicals for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders, primarily Alzheimer's disease. Unlike pan-HDAC inhibitors, NBM-100G specifically targets the HDAC6 isoform, which is predominantly located in the cytoplasm and regulates the acetylation of non-histone proteins such as alpha-tubulin and heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90). By inhibiting HDAC6, the drug aims to restore impaired axonal transport, reduce neuroinflammation, and promote the clearance of pathological protein aggregates, including tau and amyloid-beta, through the autophagy-lysosome pathway. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that NBM-100G can cross the blood-brain barrier and improve cognitive performance in animal models of neurodegeneration, positioning it as a potential disease-modifying therapy for dementia.
