Overview

NBX-200 is a proprietary formulation of the mTOR inhibitor sirolimus (also known as rapamycin), developed by Neurala Biosciences. It is primarily being investigated for the treatment of alcohol use disorder (AUD) and chronic depression. The drug's mechanism involves the inhibition of the Mechanistic Target of Rapamycin Complex 1 (mTORC1), which is hypothesized to play a role in the neuroplasticity changes associated with substance use disorders and mood regulation. Neurala Biosciences intends to use NBX-200 both as a monotherapy and in combination with their ketamine candidate (NBX-100) to extend therapeutic efficacy and prevent relapse. The formulation development and GMP manufacturing are conducted in collaboration with Ab Initio Pharma, supported by Australian government funding.
