Overview

NBX005 is a novel antibody-based treatment developed by TiumBio for various respiratory diseases. It functions by targeting and inhibiting the Neutrophil Elastase (NE) protein, which, when hyperactive, can cause significant damage to lung tissue. This mechanism is relevant in conditions such as Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (A1ATD), bronchiectasis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and cystic fibrosis. A key feature of NBX005 is its ability to bind to the Fc receptor (FcRn) on cells, which facilitates recycling and is designed to provide long-lasting therapeutic effects, differentiating it from existing plasma-derived A1AT treatments that are rapidly cleared from the body. TiumBio has filed a patent for this innovative, first-in-class biologic.
