NC-2600

NC-2600 is a novel, orally active small molecule P2X4 receptor antagonist developed by Nippon Chemiphar in collaboration with Kyushu University. The drug targets the P2X4 receptor, a purinergic ion channel expressed on microglia and sensory neurons that plays a critical role in the mediation of neuroinflammation and sensory hypersensitivity. NC-2600 has completed Phase 1 clinical development, where it was evaluated as a once-daily oral treatment (5-10 mg) for neuropathic pain and nonproductive chronic cough. It is currently the only P2X4 receptor antagonist in clinical development for chronic cough, and Nippon Chemiphar is actively seeking out-licensing partners for its further development.
