NC-2800

NC-2800 is an investigational small-molecule δ opioid receptor agonist being developed primarily as a novel antidepressant and anxiolytic agent. Discovered at Nippon Chemiphar through collaborative work with the University of Tsukuba, Kitasato University, and the National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry, it is positioned as a potential first-in-class therapy because no approved drugs currently target the δ opioid receptor for mood disorders.[1][2][7] Supported by Japan’s AMED CiCLE program, NC-2800 has completed phase I clinical trials, with phase IIa preparation underway, and is expected to offer an improved balance of efficacy, safety, and side-effect burden compared with existing antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications.[1][2]
