NC134 is a preclinical nanocarrier-based peptide therapy being developed by NanoNeurosciences for the treatment of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG). The therapy is designed as an intranasal formulation that targets neurotensin receptor type 1 (NTSR1) in trabecular meshwork (TM) cells. By activating NTSR1, NC134 stimulates actin cytoskeleton dynamics and cellular energy-boosting mechanisms within TM cells, which are critical for regulating aqueous humor drainage. This dual-action approach aims to restore TM cell function, reduce resistance to fluid outflow, and lower intraocular pressure (IOP) to prevent optic nerve damage and vision loss.
