Overview

NC527-X is an injectable small molecule near-infrared window II (NIR-II) fluorescent imaging agent being developed for intraoperative navigation and tumor visualization. Developed by Zhejiang Nuocheng Pharmaceutical in collaboration with Zhejiang Cancer Hospital, it is designed to assist surgeons in identifying tumor margins and detecting occult metastatic lesions in real-time during the surgical resection of solid tumors. Unlike traditional NIR-I agents such as indocyanine green (ICG), NC527-X operates in the NIR-II spectrum (1000-1700 nm), which offers superior tissue penetration, reduced background autofluorescence, and higher spatial resolution. The agent is administered intravenously prior to surgery and selectively accumulates in tumor tissues, potentially through the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect. It is currently undergoing Phase II clinical evaluation to optimize dosing and timing for various solid tumor indications.
