NCR400 is an investigational universal induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived islet cell therapy being developed by Anhui Zhongsheng Traceability Biotechnology (also known as Nuwacell) for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. The therapy involves the differentiation of iPSCs into functional pancreatic islet cells, which are then transplanted into patients to replace damaged or dysfunctional endocrine cells. As a 'universal' therapy, NCR400 is engineered to be hypoimmunogenic, which may allow for transplantation without the requirement for long-term systemic immunosuppression. The program is currently in the IND-enabling stage and aims to restore endogenous insulin production and glycemic control in patients with insulin-dependent diabetes.
