NCS-01 is a regenerative cell therapy derived from adult human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), developed for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. These cells are characterized by their ability to secrete high levels of therapeutic cytokines, notably basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) and interleukin-6 (IL-6), which contribute to neuroprotection and tissue repair. NCS-01 cells demonstrate unique properties compared to other MSCs, including enhanced secretion of trophic factors, improved mitochondrial activity in neural cells, and the formation of filopodia that may facilitate remote regeneration in ischemic brain tissue. Preclinical studies have shown that NCS-01 reduces infarct size and improves neurological outcomes following stroke. The therapy is being evaluated in clinical trials for safety and efficacy in patients with acute ischemic stroke[1][3][4][5][8].
