NCX-4015 is a small molecule and the primary deacetylated metabolite of NCX-4016 (nitro-aspirin), developed by NicOx. It belongs to the class of cyclooxygenase-inhibiting nitric oxide donors (CINODs). NCX-4015 is designed to release nitric oxide (NO) while providing the therapeutic effects of salicylic acid. The parent compound, NCX-4016, was investigated for the treatment of peripheral arterial disease, cardiovascular risk reduction, and colorectal cancer prevention. However, development was discontinued by NicOx following concerns regarding the metabolic profile and potential toxicity of certain intermediates, although NCX-4015 itself was a key part of the pharmacological activity of the nitro-aspirin platform.
