Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ND0611 is a proprietary liquid formulation of carbidopa developed by NeuroDerm Ltd. for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. It is designed for continuous subcutaneous administration, typically via a dermal patch or a pump system, to be used as an adjunct to standard oral levodopa therapy. By providing a continuous supply of carbidopa, ND0611 inhibits the peripheral enzyme DOPA decarboxylase more effectively than intermittent oral dosing. This prevents the breakdown of levodopa in the bloodstream before it crosses the blood-brain barrier, significantly increasing levodopa's bioavailability and half-life. The therapeutic goal is to maintain more stable levodopa concentrations in the brain, thereby reducing the "off" periods and motor fluctuations commonly experienced by patients with advanced Parkinson's disease.
