Overview

ND0801 is an investigational small molecule combination therapy developed by NeuroDerm Ltd. (a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corporation) for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and other cognitive impairments. Administered via a transdermal patch, the drug consists of a proprietary combination of nicotine and a secondary agent—identified in various trial contexts as either caffeine or opipramol. The therapeutic strategy is centered on the activation of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the brain to improve focus and cognitive function. A key feature of ND0801 is the inclusion of a second active ingredient designed to prevent the rapid desensitization of nicotinic receptors that typically occurs with repeated nicotine exposure, thereby maintaining prolonged efficacy. The compound has been evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials for adult ADHD and has been explored for potential use in conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia, and advanced Parkinson's disease.
